I use 'soul-reaper' because that is the best idealogically translated term, and it describes what they do perfectly. "Shinigami' is good as well, but, when describing it to an American audience who don't know what the term is, it doesn't work as well. 'Death god' has a different, more morose and dark meaning in the West than it does in the East. That's my take on it.

That's very true, I probably prefer the term death god because i started watching the subtitled anime before reading the translated manga

It's about a fifteen-year-old kid who has for his entire life been able to see ghosts as well as anyone can see people and what happens when he meets a soul-reaper. Very good, very cool
