The Palm House, Kew Gardens
This pioneering building is in Kew Royal Botanic Gardens, West London, England. It was constructed in 1844 to house tropical plants being brought back to the UK by the dedicated plant hunters of the time. It was on a much larger scale than previous buildings and used an iron and glass repeating structure that was widely copied elsewhere.
