Coastal Maine, a quiet little road between Blue Hill and Surry, you know those country roads where you can take a nap in the road and only get run over by a flock of wild turkeys.

I truly enjoy how you don't just take pictures.

Rather, you take your audience on walks.

The flowers pull me straight into this moment. I can feel the velvet petals beneath my fingertips as I walk along the bank. The water chuckles a hello to me and invites me to stop a while, rest on a rock and dip my feet as I soak in the sun.

Lovely.

I see I have missed the pleasure of responding to your comments on "Villages of Maine", your words are more warm and lovely than this sunny village, and certainly more evocative than the humble image itself. I do appreciate the depth of field where the distant islands are as sharp as the flowers that were below the camera, but part of the story is how in this very remote and non-touristy spot the residents here had placed a "window box" of blooms on the bridge rail as a colorful celebration. In this I feel their pride of place and how they cherish the view as well as the land (needless to say, litter is not a problem).

As always, your images beckon the muse.

What a wonderful community that they take such pride in their home. That's something very rare, indeed.

It's almost a square!

I really do like the elements and the different subjects in this piece. There are so many things that capture your eye, it really gives a great overall impact.

Good stuff.

Thank you! There were a few buildings to crop out and so thus the four by four shape (why oh why did't I think to shoot in portrait format and include the lovely sky?).

How many captures do you usually take of a specific setting? If that makes sense?

It makes me think of idealistic places on calendars.
