Description This piece was created to cover up some large scars and stretch marks covering the lower stomach and sides- the skin was pretty damaged. The photo is fully healed. However we have not completed the backround colors yet. Another photo will show a side view. This piece was completed over many sessions.

So, it's possible to tattoo over stretch marks?

Yes it is. They should be at least a year old to insure that they have finished developing (same as scars). Do not expect the skin texture to be different though. If they are raised or appear like "ditches", they will remain that way. However with clever design placement, you can help to hide this. An artist should be especially careful not to overwork the skin with scars and stretch marks as you do not want to add to this damaged skin.

Nice! So, there is hope. I always wanted to cover mine from my pregnancy. I don't know what I would get or how. I would wait until I am done having children though...because tattoos stretch right?

it is probably better to wait until after all pregnancies. new stretch marks can damage the tattoo design. they shrink very well with weight loss but dont tend to do as well with weight gain. check portfolios and make sure you find an artist with experience tattooing over stretch marks/scars. good luck!
