slender threads connect our thoughts
and knots hold fast to the ones we keep
when eyes shift blind and emotions rage
on a sea too deep to see the monsters
we should not dwell on the gaps between stars
but find the connections to the sparks we embrace

under stones they hide like turtle carapace
but the current is timelessly patient
like a beacon in the dark the stones burn their brightest before they crumble
then the birds come down and pluck them out like worms

carried to lands both distant and strange
these fragments are dropped and worshiped
like pagan gods, their light transmuted
by the darkness that other souls reflect

they are embraced.

the filaments feed and grow
