I made this diary for my pregnant friend. She wanted a book to document all her pregnancy adventures. She chose the papers and I chose the binding to match it.The book is bound on twirled twine that disappears inside the covers. The spines of the signatures are covered with small strips of paper for decoration and thickening (for pasting pictures).

It is sewn on chords. This was done in old english bindings, only they put leather over the spine. I use the technique without spine coverings.
