My favorite is the second.you don't notice the "hw" right away but its just such a neat little thing when you do. plus it's the most modern looking one

I like the 3rd one most.

Yeah, I guess you're right. At least the merge has been very good news for users of both packages i.e. they can put Freehand vectors into Photoshop etc.

What's wrong with using (ex)Macromedia products? The interface is a lot more straightforward and easier to use. Sure it's not as advanced as Illustrator, but it does most of the same things a lot neater and cheaper.

You do agree that Fireworks is cheaper than Illustrator, no?
What point is using the Adobe version of Fireworks if all you do is logo work? Vectors and gradients have been a part of Fireworks since its inception. The only new features Adobe has added to Fireworks are better integration with Adobe file formats, and some minor UI tweaks; therefore I really don't see the point in upgrading.

I normally don't have any idea about prices, but I went to the site. It's indeed cheaper, kinda weird. Probably because it's not that well known, I guess.
Like I said.
Fireworks is bitmap and vector editor, the "basic" editing of both.
Illustrator a vector editor, and so it goes deeper into the vector editing.
And Photoshop a bitmap editor, and goes deeper into that...
I don't care which program you use, I thought designers and stuff always intended to have the latest upgrades. Point finale.
