Louisville and Nashville Railroad E-6 class diesel streamliner built by the Electro-Motive Division (EMD) of General Motors in 1942.

Used to pull the railroads "Pan American" express train between Louisville, Kentucky and New Orleans, Louisiana. Was part of the L&N's fleet of 16 of these locomotives and is the sole survivor not only of the E-6 models but is the only L&N passenger diesel left AT ALL.

One the most controversial pieces in the collection of the Kentucky Railway Museum in New Haven, KY. Several offers from other groups wishing to cosmetically restore the engine have been made and turned down by the museum. Most notably the Bowling Green Kentucky Railroad Museum who later went with an E-8 unit from the B&O and very professionably restored it as a "faux" L&N passenger engine which now on display at their facility.

Supposedly a volunteer at KRM managed to get nearly $40,000 in donations raised towards the restoration of this piece a couple of years ago and then nothing happened with no word of what happened to the money. the somewhat "shady" practices like this held by the museum have now lead to alot of trouble in soliciting donations for keeping the place running because the museum won't disclose just where peoples money will end up.
