There are currently 109 Water Type Pokemon (not including Water Arceus, Rotom-w, nor Rain Castform), making it the most common pokemon type. That makes 16.8% of all Pokemon.
There are currently 26 Water Type moves. When the identity of physical or special moves were still determined on the type instead of the individual move, all Water-type moves were special.
Water type moves have the most hold items that positively affect their power level with 5 (The Sea Incense, Wave Incense, Mystic Water, Splash Plate, and Water Gem). The ground type is the most commonly paired type with the water type.
