Description So it's funny how things roll into each other. Tendril comes from my desire to draw horror and Inhumanoids -- which comes from having done a pretty nice (if I do say so) D'Compose.

Basically all the design work in Inhumanoids is useless. For example their vehicles are terrible -- that's why I've nearly completely redesigned the Earth Corps vehicle you see here. Tendril is probably the best design that was created for the series.

Oddly when I was drawing him I omitted one of the best aspects of his design -- the fact that he basically has three or four legs. But the idea here was to make him more of a fluid monster, and more absorptive, but also more able to grow and extend. So he could have a third leg if he WANTS. (Y'know what I'm sayin', ladies?)

Funnilly when I was drawing this piece I decided I wanted a moose in it. Tendril would be eating a moose with tentacles coming out of his back. So I drew one there, but I wasn't quite satisfied with it... and I realised that I needed reference not only for the moose, but for trees that would suit his habitat.

So I looked up moose online and found a few pics... man they were awesome. I decided Tendril should be HOLDING THE MOOSE IN HIS HAND, instead of the truck that's there now.

I also looked up trees and found a few neat pictures which included some nice treelines against mountainscapes. I liked them so much I printed them and went back to my drawing.... forgetting about the moose.

This completely transformed my composition -- I put the trees in, put the silhouetted trees in the foreground, created a treeline like nothing I've ever done before...

And yeah. I forgot about the moose. Oh well.

Another great re-imagining, with great details. It makes the notion that shooting off bits of him would make even more creatures like this absolutely terrifying.
