He had always wanted to see his home planet, to breathe the fresh air and feel the warm sun on his skin. He had grown up listening to stories of Earth’s beauty and diversity, of its rich history and culture. He had hoped that the rumors about Earth being completely harvested of all her resources and decimated by alien forces were untrue. But as his small vessel landed on the planet, he saw a barren wasteland of overgrown cities and former structures. Yet, the sun gleamed down at him, and he felt a spark of hope in his chest. He declared with pride, “I will rebuild.”
