Fantastic work. The details are so hard to get right (drew him once for a bday card for my brother) but you did a great job with it.

Thanks a lot! Β How long ago did you draw the art? Β You can challenge yourself to draw it again if you're up to it to see how much you've improved!

aww no problem. 3 years since I last drew something so I'm really out of it.
IDK if I could recreate this now so if anything i'll start off simple with anime or something.

That's the thing - you shouldn't ever hole yourself into a situation without really knowing what exactly you're capable of. Β I would be more pumped to go back into something difficult and test out my skills raw versus your current thought. Β You have a lot more talent that you don't give credit to yourself for!

Rather than creative, go straight forward to figuring out where your technical skills are at this moment. Β From there, the creativity should take over! Β
Either way, I suggest drawing from life, like people nearby and what not. Β The organic subjects will teach you how to draw in other ways that still life/fan art cannot teach!

I love your style! You don't start out with guidelines, but instead, you start out lose and then gradually tighten it up as you move along. I also like how you used the thick outlines around the edges to make your pieces pop.

Thank you! Β I wouldn't stay I don't start with guideline, but as you mentioned, the loose build up that tightens along serves as a "guideline". Β So its yes and no. Β As for the thick outline, the piece felt too..."blurry" for lack of a better word, and containing it all into the outline helped "secure" the piece. Β I have no idea if that makes sense but that's as close as I can say to describing that choice! haha

Thanks kindly! Β I was experimenting with a textured brush which I would never have considered for a character with a metallic suit, but I had success with a piece before (Assassin's Creed 3 fanart) and decided to give it a try!
