(yeah, forgot the white paint for his face...but with all these pretty skin tone markers I bought, can you blame me for jumping the gun?)

Fun fact: Some of Amidala's garments were indeed based on Asian traditional costumes, particularly those that eventually were blended together in the Fire Nation.
That being said, it's quite plausible for him to mock the identity and culture of his city's occupiers this way.
