I remember the first time when we survived winter in DST... in normal DS everything then was easy, so we didn't expect anything like that after killing Deerclops our sanity was really low, he destroyed the forest on the north from our base, so I told her: I'll go collect that wood he made for us, winter is over, so everything should be ok. Then the rain started. I was freezing and wet, my sanity went to 0, I don't remember now if we survived that day, but I think that the answer is no
And our first summer was only worse.

It's addictive though XD so many ways to die! I've never survived a full year (all 4 seasons)
This timw we had quite a good base, 3 koalefants in a wood pen, e bee box and some farms and dryingracks... But we for attacted by hounds, my bf runned to the koalefants to see if they would kill the hounds the way beefalo do, and they did... But some how everything suddenly was frozen, and the next moment it was all on fire, so half the camp burned down. Later on a deerclops broke down our sciene machines and some other parts of the camp XD so we were done for tonight

Indeed! Probably because that tie system, "only one day more and I quit" and then the hounds will come, or your base is burning or even worse things and you just can't quit
On the "vanilla" version before DST was released I think my record was about day 250. On DST or Reign of Giants played alone I reached the second spring and died on summer, on DST with my sis I think we survived 2 full years and died on the autumn or at beginning of winter.
I hate when I have nice and organised base and these giants just come and destroy it all with one hit it's my home after all, respect it!

haha yeah I know, I always make plans to make little daytrips, for example to get some chargoal, or fish, or boulders, or wood.... but the days go so quick that I always fall behnd on my schedule, and I only wanna quit when I fell like I've got it all under control, because I don't wanna get back at the game and start when everything is a disaster.... but some how, I really never get to the point where everything is under control XD I always fail at 1 of the 3 needs  

woa, you've survived for quite some time! do you always play together with your sister? I do like it more to play together with someone, than playing alone. 

yeah, it's not fair that they do that.... it's like... isn't everythin hard enough already? and when everything is destroyed I don't feel like playing anymore, especially when it happens in a difficult time

Same! I also used to write down the things I need to do next time I'll be playing, because if I had a break longer than let's say 2 days, I could forget that there is no wood left in any chest and discover it in the middle of night

When in DST, yes, we play tohether because we talk on skype or through the wall to save time on typing on chat sometimes we play together and build one big base and sometimes against each other, stealing food etc But in cooperation sometimes it's annoying when she always wants to go exploring and I am the one that makes saplings and grass farms, usually saving her ass when she's starving

It could seem that it's more challenging then, try to survive winter without... anything, but at the end you'll die anyway and have to build everything again... nope. That's why I used to make "emergency base" in the forest or near swamps,  with only firepit, chest with some wood and I move them with as many jerky as possible when I only hear the giant approaching, I kill it with gunpowder if I have it, or hope for treeguards to spawn and play with it easy and nice way to kill them.

I also play together with my boyfriend using Skype to talk, because typing is just a waste of time

XD your sister sounds just like me hahaha, I always want to catch koalefants and build a woodwall to keep them near and do stuff like that, and then I forget to search and prepare food so I'm quickly starving and need to beg my BF to save me by giving me food but I'm also the person who tries to build a proper camp ^^

the back-up camp sounds like a good idea  
one time I build a chestnext to the resorection stone, and in an other mode next to the starting portal. In the chest I put a winterhat, a torch and some other emergent supplies, fot when I might die and need to walk quite far to get back tp the camp afther getting back to life. 

talking about this game always makes me wanna play right now
