Description Our favorite God of Mischief riding free in Asgard (or dreaming riding free maybe). His horse is named Arvak after one of the two horses (the other is Alsvin) who pull the sun in the sky. I picked the name from Iron Bell's story.

I used one of the french republican guard for the horse attitude. The horse itself could be a frison. The bridle is inspired by several medieval ones. The saddle and trapping are cross-country style. At first I wanted to draw medieval style but I've changed my mind. I think Loki's a good rider, and wouldn't just go for a peaceful ride without jumping some tree trunks or fences.

And of course I used several pictures of Tom Hiddleston as Loki. I painted everything with brushes and blur tool. No textures added.

This picture is not finished, I'm currently working on some background but I don't know how long it's going to take because I've never drawn landscapes before! Wish me luck!

EDIT: Bodies are more balanced now. I reduced Arvak's neck and added a longer mane. Loki's a bit taller. Landscape in progress. You can use this picture, just don't forget to say where you took it!

Lol! Løki is gonna get a bad burn from Sunna once she finds out he's riding her horse! Arvak (Early Riser)

So beautiful!! Can't wait to see the background I've always thought of Loki taking rides by himself in Asgard just to get away and think. He's such a talented rider and I could see him spending days alone in the forest with all different kinds of animals.

Loki is not the greatest guy, and certainly NOT worthy of your exquisite artistic ability.

Loki's creds: www.pantheon.org/articles/l/lo…

How 'bout a rename to SIEGFRIED riding GRANE a gift from Brünnhilde .

"...In his cave in the forest, the dwarf Mime forges a sword for his foster son Siegfried. He hates Siegfried but hopes that the boy will kill the dragon Fafner, who guards the Nibelungs’ treasure,..."..."...Siegfried reaches the mountaintop where Brünnhilde sleeps. Never having seen a woman before, he thinks he has discovered a man. When he removes Brünnhilde’s armor, he is overwhelmed by the sight of her beauty and finally realizes the meaning of fear. Mastering his emotions, he awakens her with a kiss...."

If you don't like Sigie and Brunie, maybe Prince Valiant on Arvak?

Thanks Loki isn't a knight in shining armor that's for sure ! What I had in mind drawing this, is how he would behave with animals, horses in particular. Loki is always deceiving people around him, willingly or not, partly because he feels regularly abandonned and hurt by his kind. But you can't cheat with horses, you have to be honest and show your true intentions. And somehow I think Loki would be a great horseman... Spending time with horses would be a way to escape other people and expectations, but also to "communicate" with a being who doesn't judge you in any way. That was the thought... ^^

Thx for the links, I'll be a little less uncultivated tomorrow

You're right. Loki's probably an excellent rider, because he has to keep up with Thor,
who probably only knows two speeds: fast, and faster! And Loki would 'never' let Thor beat him,
never, never, never!

This is beautiful. I'd also pegged Loki as a very good rider (he's a prince, after all, plus naturally balanced and graceful) and one who enjoys it, to boot. I could see him going out riding by himself sometimes, just for the joy of it. He has a connection to animals in myth, being a shapeshifter, and probably communicates with them better than he does with people. I'd love to see more people draw Loki on horseback.

Thanks! I also picture Loki alone with his horse from time to time, just enjoying the simplicity of riding, far from the palace, the schemes and people's opinions. He's probably more honest with animals than people. You can't fool a horse with words, even if you have a silvertongue, and a horse won't compare you to your big blond brother ^^

Exactly! I've always thought the same. He likes animals, he likes their simple honesty, and he likes the freedom of riding. As a shapeshifter, he's spent time as many different animals and can probably communicate with them in their own tongue - which would make him a hell of a rider.

I'm working on a story on this. I have some ideas but I don't know what it'll look like in the end ^^ It's quite graphic too. I'll draw more Arvak/Loki to fit with it (or I'll write to match the drawings lol).

A really great piece and concept! I always think of things with Loki and horses, glad someone else did, too! I think him riding in a forests would be fantastic. I always envision him going out riding on all kinds of adventures. The saddle fits for that kind of adventure, anyways!

Can't wait to see the finished product, especially seeing as I already love it how it is!

Thanks a lot! I'm still working on it, Ameban was right about a few things, and I'm trying to draw mountains and forests in the background. I'll try to update soon!

Very nice. The horse looks quite good, and I can recognize the complements. I also like the textures you put. My only complain is the horse is far too big with a long-rigid neck, mostly if you think how tall Loki is.

He's big on purpose. I wanted a tall horse as Loki is tall amongst his kind. So he looks normal on this horse. The neck is quite rigid because the horse is «pushing» on the reins. But I understand what you mean because I'm not completly satisfied either. I'll try to put more balance for the next version. Thanks a lot for pointing these things out!

I really like this.

You could maybe have him riding on the bifrost? That would be trippy.

Thanks! I was thinking snowy montains, dark forests and the sea. I thought Asgard in Thor was way to shiny... Anyway, I'll do what I can ^^
