This is one of my favorite pieces, Mike. Definitely love the edgy feel of the square wire. It makes it seem more 'authentic'.

Squared wire is always a nice effect. You need to work on your closures, though.

Yeah I hate staring at my stuff in macro pictures, and the nature of the square rings just exaggerates it even more. The way they cut make them look like they all have a kerf gap even when flush.

You can get good, tight closures with square rings, whether machine cut or saw cut, it just takes practice.

No doubt. Yet I think we see two different things.

*shrugs* I'm just going by experience. I know that sounds snooty, but I've been doing this for 9 years, 7 of those professionally. It's not an insult to say you need to work on your closures, it's encouragement.

Not taken negatively at all. I can find many closures over lots of projects that I could always do better. That particular item though has beveled edges in the cut because of the way it was machined that exaggerates the closure. they are butted as tight as they could be, yet will always look that way. Perhaps I'll grab a chain and do a super close up, and a full shot to experiment.

Love it. Where, if I may ask, do you find your square stainless rings? I have been looking FOREVER to find some at a decent price, and I can't find the sizes I need. :'3

Bought square rings from TRL, until I got some square wire as well for custom sizes.

Dang. I really don't want to make my own rings. I want stainless 20G 1/8" and 20G 3/16" for sure, and I can't find ANY at a good price.

TRL too expensive for you?

I didn't see any square wire in less than 16G on TRL..

Oh square wire, I was not thinking square. They will soon have some in the softer metals, but not stainless that I know of.

Very sexy hammer! I love seeing square wire used for maill - it gives the pieces a much more dynamic quality.
