Description I stood in the door way as he took my paper bag. A two room apartment. I think those would be called studios, but even so i think a studio has a bedroom.

The main room is Large. The kitchen is to the right and separates it's self from the rest of the room with dark blue tile and a small island with four miss matching stools. one the bottom right corner of the room is a large couch set. A dark navy blue, one of those sets that connects and has the corner seat. a large wooden coffee table in front of it and a old, probably used, TV. A DVD and VCR player are inside the TV stand. Along with a bunch of game consoles dating back to the 80's.

Going back to the front of the room, which separates itself with a single step to the carpet side of the room (the upper side is a old hardwood that hasn't been polished in years.) Theres a small dining table on the left side with a open lap tap. One the Right hand side there's a old work table (Desk?) with paper all over it, pens, pencils, ink bottles, rulers. Ace is apparently a cartoonist of some kind. Or a  drawer (is that a word?) who takes enough pride in his work to ink and color.

I kept standing there, taking this all in. Seeing the tall oak bookcase jammed packed with books by the kitchen. It's weird because it seems somebody cut two half of a apartment and glued together. the lower half is homely, cloths and boots, i saw a pair of sneakers that looked like they belong to a clown at one point, on the floor. A bachelor owned this side. But the upper side was EXTREMELY clean. it was just those two tables and the large window on the left hand side.  It was bare on the upper side. But crammed on the other. I like that.

I open my mouth to say something but Ace is too busy doing whatever he does >"Christ come in! my neighbor's are psycho! I don't want them to see anything!<"
He smiles and whispers very loudly >"Theres an old witch who wears her dead cats skins."< he giggles at his on joke as i rolled my eyes.

I sigh deeply and go to sit at the couch, leaving enough room for ace to squeeze in between me and the arm. I'd like to say why, but I'll leave that up to you. I rub my eye and look up. I get handed a whiskey cup half full of the vodka i bought. Ace sits his cup on the coffee table and sits in the spot i left for him, taking off his boots and socks. Sticking the socks inside of the boots for safe keeping. I notice his feet. Well groomed, not like you'd think a man would keep his feet. no ingrown toenails, nothing. But they weren't polished or anything fruity like that, just kept in order. I've never seen any man take such good care of his feet, it was weird at the time.

He sat back up and took his vodka off the coffee table, slouching down into the couch, looking all thoughtful and serious. I don't know how long we sat there but at some point his cell phone went off and he answered.

>Uhh, I'm gonna have to go pick up a friend and take her home. She lives in a bad part of the city.<

I sat there i didn't want him to go and i didn't know what to say but "oh."

>"Come with me." He put down his cup and grabbed my hand. >"Wait! wait!"< I giggled as i put my cup down, following him out the door. As we walked towards the nearest bus stop i asked
>"I thought this WAS the bad part of town."<
>"She lives on the east side, on the other side of where the wall was. You know as much as I do after the Americans tore down that wall the whole eastern block went to hell."<
I made a face of remorse remembering that. I guess it was nice America "freed" Germany, But it would have been better if they helped clean up their mess. We reached the bus stop and stood there.
>"You not from around here."<
I looked up at him with my guilty face.
>"You didn't tear down that wall. Don't feel sorry for what can't be helped."<

The next half our was spent public transportation hopping to get to the other side of town where this cafe was. Ace's friend, Anna, worked there. After loitering similar to the way were out in front of my local liquor store Anna appeared.

A tall black haired skinny woman in a blue sun dress and white apron.

>"Anna, this is Inna."<
