Background
For many years, one of Pravda's most regularly deployed tanks was their sole SU-85 Tank Destroyer. However the tank destroyer was never really utilized properly and although its stopping power was impressive, it often would be one of its most regularly defeated tanks, mostly due to it being misused and due to the team commanders before it not knowing how to play upon its strengths. It wasn't until the 58th Sensha-Do Tournament that the SU-85 truly started to shine. Part of this was owed to what some have referred to as a prodigy. A student who proved to be uniquely gifted as a tank gunner and knew how to command the large tank destroyer effectively. Pravda managed to reach the semi-finals in the 58th tournament due in no small part to the SU-85 and its crew. They even managed to set a record in one match for knocking out the flag tank of the opposing team within the first ten minutes, with no other tanks being eliminated. This solidified the SU-85's infamy. However despite inflicting numerous casualties upon their rivals in the semi-finals, Pravda was defeated by Kuromorimine who would rack up their seventh tournament win in a row. But the SU-85 remained a terror, often ending matches quickly with sniper shots.

The commander and gunner of the SU-85 became nicknamed "Lady Death" and set a record for the number of opponent tanks eliminated over her four year career at Pravda at three-hundred-and-nine eliminations. However despite being so infamous as a tank sniper, Lady Death was never able to carry her team to victory in the tournaments. She was eventually promoted to team leader for the sixtieth Sensha-Do tournament, with Pravda being eliminated in the semi-finals for that tournament and then being defeated by Kuromorimine once again in the 61st Tournament Finals. Lady Death's final defeat in the 61st Tournament would be dealt personally by Kuromorimine's newly promoted leader; Maho Nishizumi.

Lady Death would eventually graduate and hand command to her immediate subordinate, Katyusha, who would lead Pravda to victory in the 62nd Tournament the following year, although she did warn Katyusha in a letter following Pravda's victory scolding her and warning her that their win was a fluke due to Miho Nishizumi's actions in leaving the Kuromorimine Flag Tank abandoned and exposed. That while Pravda were the technical winners, Kuromorimine would very likely have defeated Pravda had Miho not handed them the win. She then would write Katyusha a scolding letter the following year after Pravda lost the 63rd Tournament to Ooarai. However after Pravda assisted Ooarai in the All-Star University Elimination Match, she wrote a letter to Katyusha praising her team's valiant sacrifice and Katyusha's own performance in the match despite all four of Pravda's reinforcements being eliminated. She also revealed that she had been serving as gunner on the University Team's T28 Super-Heavy Tank but due to "mysterious circumstances," had to sit the match out. It was implied that she faked an illness so she would not have to face her former school.

Since Lady Death's graduation, Katyusha has been reluctant to field the SU-85 as few, save for perhaps Nonna, has a sharp enough aim or mastery of the tank's sniping capabilities to be effective. As such, the SU-85 is presently on display outside of Pravda's tank garage, a plaque commemorating Lady Death's infamous elimination count. However the SU-85 recieves regular maintenance should the decision be made to field the tank again in the near future.
