Description In my final year in the reenactment group, we decided we needed society sweatshirts. I ended up designing a crest that was used. And BOY, did I fill it with significance:

The CROWN was crenelated to represent a castle; possibly the Great Hall where we spent most of our time (at this point, I can't remember. By the way, Firefox has "crenelated" in its spelling dictionary. WIN).

The OPEN BOOK is the book of History, but it is open to a blank page whereon the reenactment society may write its version down.

The MUSIC BAR and TRUMPETS represents our pubsingers, with notes from "Rose" (specifically, the line "will I ever see thee wed? // I will..")

The HELMET, of course, represented our combat department, while the CURTAINS behind the trumpets were for our theatre department.

The BEAR was the University mascot, while the LADY represented costuming. She holds a hammer for the tech department.

The SHIELD is the University's shield.

The BANNER ended up (after several drafts) reading with the motto "nos tenemus theatrum". It is very bad Latin for "we know drama", and yes, the bad Latin is the point.

Finally, the ACORNS are where, traditionally, something that represented the Lord's land went. Acorns fit.

One final bit of significance: normally the supporters stand on the land, with the motto beneath, but the state crest of the state that the University is in has ITS supporters standing on the motto, with the land beneath it.

I put FAR too much thought into this.

As the original belongs to the reenactment society, this is put up here for display ONLY. NO OTHER USE is authorised.
