Golden Bells Above

Clematis, Bill McKenzie, climbing high,

reaching for the sky.

Although he was once almost forgotten and lost,

he lived a lonely, leafy life in the undergrowth, hiding from the frost.

Conditions were right this year and Bill put on extensive growth, just to prove he could flower;

He must have liked the odd spring and summer shower.

And what a show,

Surviving through the bitter winter cold and snow,

as many golden bells adorned the top of my rose bushes,

shining out like autumn lanterns, so pretty and how the sunlight makes them glow.

It just goes to show;

don't give up on a plant, as you never do know.
