Description Recently, Paule (aka ~petite-fashionista ) and I decided to do an art swap/collaboration thing where we both did self-portraits and then exchanged linearts for the other to colour it in. Paule finished first, so here's what she did with my lineart: [link]

But this is my part of the trade. I had a very realistic portrait to deal with, an unusual thing for me! I didn't know exactly how I should shade this, but I eventually decided paintery would fit it best, and I ended up doing something very smooth, maybe the smoothest shading I've ever done in Photoshop, haha. Frankly, I think it doesn't look like I coloured it at all, but it makes it pretty interesting if you ask me. Anyway, I like how it turned out.

The halftone texture makes it look like an old illustration from a magazine, no?

Oh, this is great. Love how you managed to make it look water-color-ish with photoshop.

once more, nice work. I love the old art deco magazine look you did with the halftones.

It's really out of your style. You did a nice job colouring it.

I'm kind of halftone retarded, I have not idea how to do it.

The half tone is easy: in Photoshop, Filters > Pixellize > Color Halftone > set all numbers to 108.

But I was talking about the colouring itself though...

You did a great job. I like how soft the colours are. Thanks by the way for the halftones tip.
