Description
After suffering a defeat in 'the chase', Azula and her friends fall into an ambush of the earht kingdom army. Earhtbenders make their vehicle sink in quik sand and the girls are forced to flee on their lizards. During the fight Mai got separated from the others. An earhtbender knocks her off her lizard. A wounded Mai flees into the forest. Before losing her conscious. Help arrives in an unexpected form.
Zuko remembers Mai as his old girlfriend and decides to protect her. Later, Iroh convince him to live her nearby a fire nation village. Because they don't wanne give away their location. Not been totally sure of Mai true colours. Zuko agree'sI liked the idea that Mai and the Blue Spirit would meet.
Maiko forever! ^_^

Well, let's see, when it first appeared on the scene he was using it to save Aang, I think, and it was an "enemy" of the Firenation.
But then in season 2 he began to use it to steal things from people because he hated losing his pampered lifestyle. - so when he left it at Lake Laogi I always thought it was supposed to represent his letting go of his attachment to his life the way it was before he was banished. (as in, he used it first to try to get the Avatar, and second to try to replace his life of splendor) That's just my interpretation.

OK you are right the first time was to get the avatar i mean to save him than to take him to his father he can't lat him go just like that ..

Yeah, I guess my thinking was that "capturing the avatar" was still a motive of his "bad" side, sorta . . . so again, the mask represented him clinging to his old way of life, of being (and wanting to return to being) a firenation prince
If "what he wanted" was material goods (stolen) or to capture the Avatar (upsetting balance) then yes, I would still say that it represented his bad side.
That's why Iroh says "It is time to choose- Good." At the end of that episode- and then Zuko lets go of his mask.
Oh, and I just realized I asked you somewhere if you ship Zutara. Just ignore that.
