We made some bad decisions, like a premature gas stop that make the storm overtake us and nearly kill us. It was the greatest thing ever!

Nope! That was a cursed day from start to finish. There was a fight between me and a few other people the day before that really resulted in a whole LOT of tension in the group. That's a REALLY long story that I'm not about to get into. Let's just say, the girl who was pitted against me and the other two girls on the trip got into a hell of a lot of trouble with our professor for what she'd been doing the entire week, so she had a whole lot to be pissy about and make our lives miserable.

Thats why I storm chase solo - I only have myself to argue with. Of course, nobody else I know wants to go stormchasing, so it's really a moot point.

After a rather bad solo chase last year that nearly got me killed a second time (my friends decided to leave WITHOUT me), I've made sure to drag someone along with me to keep my head level and keep me from making stupid mistakes. Hopefully this coming year I'll have a few more friends to chase with.

What's the closest you've ever been to a twister?

Well, that's one of the many reasons we are no longer friends, so no point in dredging up the past.
The closest? Well, I think that would be the Leedey, OK, storm last year, and that was maybe a few hundred yards away from the tornado. It was a short lived one, but OMG it was so amazing to see it form then dissipate. Followed that storm from Cu to death.

It's only dangerous if you're inexperienced. Then again, I was with experienced professionals on this occasion and we still got into trouble. It was just a bad week for us. Oh, well, hopefully next year will be better.

So true. I've already chased 3 times since then and caught a tornado out in Peoria at dusk along with some gorgeous lightning in Indiana. I can't wait to see what the rest of the summer holds.
