Description
House sighed as he threw the ball against the wall, watching it bounce back and catching it with his cane. He had been doing this for over ten minutes. That is until his phone rang. He picked it up and heard your voice on the other end, grimacing as the ball rolled over to the window.“I’ll miss you.” You said.
Before he could respond you hung up. He walked over to pick up the ball and looked out his window. People were outside, almost the entire hospital it seemed. They were looking up. Towards the roof. He leaned out his window to see you standing on the edge of the roof.
“Idiot!” He said, shutting his window and rushing to the roof door, only to find it locked, and seemingly barricaded from the outside.
He turned around and began the trek downstairs. Once there House stepped outside and shoved his way to the front of the crowd, looking up.
“(Y/n) what the hell are you doing?!” He screamed.
“What the hell do you think? You’re a fucking genious figure it out!”
“(Y/n) don’t be an idiot. Suicide is cowardly and stupid!”
“I don’t care!” Your voice cracked. “I can’t anymore! I can’t deal with life the way it is!”
“Then that makes you a weak individual!”
“Are you trying to make her jump?!” Wilson and Cuddy asked at the same time.
“He’s right.” You said. “I’m weak. I’m a weak person and always will be! I’ve dealt with life for years. I think it’s been driving me insane.”
“Insane how?” Wilson asked.
“I can’t do it anymore. I can’t just sit there and pretend I’m fine! I can’t put on fake smiles and laughs so people don’t know I’m hurting! I don’t want to believe that my only purpose in life is to make others happy! What about my happiness?!”
“Your happiness doesn’t matter! No one’s does! Life is a cruel thing! It’s supposed to torment you! Happiness is just a stupid lie people make up to feel better than other people! No one is happy!” House countered.
You gave a bitter laugh. “Life isn’t cruel! Neither is the world! You know what is cruel? The people.”
“People are assholes! So what?!”
“So they’re the reason I am how I am! They’re the reason I got into my little fantasy lands you hate so much! They were the ones to drive me to that! And now...I need those lands. But they’re fading away! Falling apart and I can’t do a thing about it! They are the last things I have left! If I have to face reality without them….I’ll go insane.”
“And I don’t want that.” You whispered.
You stepped off. It all seemed to happen in slow motion. You falling. And then. You stopped. You landed in someones arms. You looked up to see Greg holding you. You were about to yell at him when he stopped you.
“You’re wrong. You won’t go insane. Because I’ll be here for you. I always was here for you. As much as an idiot as you are at times I love you. And always will.” He stated under his breath.
“You’re the bigger idiot you idiot.” You said. “You could’ve hurt your leg catching me.”
He smiled. “I did. But it was worth it.”
“I love you too by the way...idiot.”
You sat up as you woke up abruptly. You felt arms wrap around you and gasped. Then you remembered where you were.
“What’s wrong (Y/n)” Greg muttered sleepily.
“Just a dream. About the past is all.”
“Go back to sleep.” He said.
You layed back down and smiled as he gently pulled you closer to him.
“Idiot.” You said.
“You’re the bigger idiot. You idiot.” He murmured back.
“Shut up and go to bed stupid. We have work soon.” You hit him lightly.
He chuckled and you grinned as you both fell back asleep, in each others arms.
