In this version, they really bond over their shared love of literature. When Drax finds it hard to break the ice with his beautiful guest, he suggests they both read a book and meet up once a week to discuss it. These book club dates start off slow but quickly blossom, as does their affection for one another.

Not long after Belle leaves to tend to her ailing father, she sends a package to the castle. Inside is a copy of one of her favorite books and a letter, requesting that he read it and send it back to her with his thoughts. A week later the book is returned with one from his collection as well. They keep their correspondence up for almost a month.

One week, Belle's package doesn't arrive. A few days go by and Drax starts to worry. Maybe she's moved on, he thinks, maybe there's someone else? One night, he decides to walk the grounds, hoping the fresh air will help clear his thoughts. As he passes the front gate, he pauses. A hooded figure on horseback is approaching the castle. They draw near and he smiles, an incredible weight lifted from his shoulders. Belle dismounts and removes her hood. Walking toward her friend, she offers him a bundle, two books wrapped lovingly in a warm quilt that she's made.

"My father is much better now..." she says sweetly. "So I thought I should deliver these myself."
