I recently discovered the magic of Painter 12. It was kinda daunting at first but once you get the jam, Rendering is just WOW! Painter isn't entirely perfect but when put together with photoshop, they really go in harmony

I recolored basically everything, except for the background. Recoloring was smooth and easy with Painter.

Also thanks to 's advice, i learned something new and important: to make the lines less hard by smudging them into the picture. This makes the line art more organic with the whole composition. I found this to be the most time consuming but most important part of the process.

i also applied a "paint strokes" kind of layer over the whole thing, a la Jo Chen, which i learned from her tutorial for Dark Horse
