Description
This is a character design I came up with years ago. I found an old sketch of this dude and decided to do an updated drawing. In the original he was just standing there, so this time I tried for a more dramatic pose and included some flowing energy.This was done on an 11 x 17 illustration board. I used a soft lead 3B pencil to render the image, giving it the look of being inked.

How do you out black line and put color lines? How do you do this in Photoshop? Great Job!!

Thank you! In Photoshop we turn the line art into a separate layer, then lock the layer. Then we just color on top of the line art, and since it's locked, only the lines are colored. I hope that makes sense, it's kind of hard to explain.

Thanks! I hate inking! LOL! The soft lead pencil suits my style much better. Once I scan it, then darken the lines just a bit... instant ink! Yay!
