Description Now, this is a blast from the past...

To cut to the chase: in 1998 I had to stop drawing. Like, not touching a pencil, brush, marker... nothing.
In early summer of 2003, during one long boring night [I used to have a dead-end job with LOTS of night-shifts] someone asked me how I used to draw comics before, what with etc. Since Ang Lee's HULK movie was to be released soon, I got an inspiration and grabbed an A4 paper from the printer plus the most ordinary 'biro' [as Brits call the ballpoint office pen] with black ink and - this HULK's happened. I thought it looks good, even signed it as...

... wait for this...

..........................

...BRIAN BOLLAND.

For a lark I was showing this sketch around boasting that the incomparable Brian [Batman: Killing Joke, Judge Dredd, Camelot 3000...] Bolland drew it for me!

Of course, this is a scan of the drawing cut out and pasted into my sketchbook with my faux BB signature off.

After this sketch I had a bout that lasted for two weeks after which I've stopped drawing again -- only to return with a vengeance in 2004 then off I went again till November 2007 when I returned almost full time to drawing, comics and all that nice stuff.

My sincerest TWANKS & SHANKS if you say so for the modest ballpoint pen sketch on the ordinary office A4 sheet.

It's been just the anticipation of the Ang Lee's HULK movie and feeling inspiration at the moment.

Yup, I loved the Ang Lee's 'Hulk'.

Pretty well structured. It'd earn a good inking.

Cheers, mate!
I simply LOVE your Lobo with the white costume big-boob flygirl on the bike.
Might be an interesting attempt to do inking over Uncle-Hulkster... Even I might try it..!

Somehow it came through... in spite of being half-asleep and doodling with an ordinary black ink office ballpoint pen on ordinary office A4 paper.
Tranks & Shanks, effendi. Much appreciated, with gratitude.

I didn't understand your story
but anyway i think that this is a great sketch

Thanks for writing, sorry for misunderstanding.
THE POINT OF THE STORY:

1. I drew after five years of not drawing, for the first time
2. Thought I did it so well that I lied to some people it's drawn by the famous and revered British artist Brian Bolland. Even my son [quite young at the time] bought the story!

After this sketch I did several more and stoped again, then tried once-twice more and now I'm back to drawing full time and I'm not looking back anymore.

My son's a grown man now, his mother's got the whole house without comics, drawing papers that gather dust making her cough and without all those annoying pencils, brushes and stuff.

Ah well.

Essentially that's the story, hope it's clearer now.

Cheers,

[ ~b~ ]

Now i got the elucidation,
and i apologize;
i don't speak english and often misunderstand some notes that i read on dArt.
And about your drawing,
it's better than mine's.
for design them i use tracing paper over photographs.
Thus it's as i can do it.

It's allright.
Many artists wanting to do realistic rendering apply exactly that technique - tracing paper over photographs, to achieve realism and naturalism.
Try to learn and become capable of drawing on your own, not just after photos.
Best,

Fanks and shanks!
It was quite a surprise to be able to knock out anything credible after a half-a-decade drawing hiatus but the story was intended to tease some friends and family - and the worst thing happened: THEY BOUGHT IT, not all of them but those expected.
Never ever shared this with Mr. Bolland, tho'.
I doubt he'd be angry but still...

Hehe he might like it, who knows. It may be different if you were trying to pass it off as his work to profit from it, but what you were doing was just harmless fun.

Exactly, just a tease - 'Here, see the HULK sketch done yesterday afternoon for me by Brian Bolland' kind of thing.

Who..? Dr. Bruce Banner's jade alter-ego?
Invisible micro-ones yes but in reality we still haven't made Hulk Cave, HulkMobile, HulkLaserGun and the purple socks.
Did you notice in the old days, if Banner had brown, black, green or yellow trousers -- any color -- when he hulks-out they magically become PURPLE?
For real, man..! Only without the guns to show-off.

Thanks, compadre.
Like most things, everything looks nice after years dandruff-off and it becomes rosy-tinted...
I try to avoid thinking about those years.
This was an exception.
