A dead bird.
Yes, an ordinary thing. Something you don't see everyday, but it is not seen as a strange thing.
Usually people will look at it and go ewww, poke it with a stick or walk away.
But here... it's more then just a dead bird.
Here is a bird's departed body, lying on the sidewalk.
Bright belly feathers show it's beauty of the life it once had, and the beauty it still holds after death.
The red leaf there adds to the sad emotion.. it is another symbol of death.
