My poll ended up with me having to take some photos of Christmas decorations! So I'll do that. But first, I found some really pretty metallic gift ribbons. A little series with those is almost as good as a series of Christmas decorations
I'll do more later.
It was quite a challenge to take photos of something so shiny. Tell me what you think

At first this didn't really catch me. It looked kind of dull with only the red color, but after a closer look I realized that this where far more than just red. The light makes each ribbon different and the colors vary a lot from darker red to lighter red, which makes it more interesting to look at.
With that said I do still think its a little too much red. I do like your photos with red and gold better, as they create some kind of contrast, while think is just red all the way.
I really like the ribbons in the background, as they're blurred out and that makes them more mixed and the lighter and darker areas kind of splash together. The foreground seems sharp at some points and blurred at other points, which draws attention towards the sharper parts.
One thing I don't really like is the small holes in the background, they doesn't really fit in and kind of draws attention away from the ribbons.
