There are a lot of great things about this painting. I do like it, but I'm going to get insanely picky in the hopes that it's helpful to you e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

This is only my opinion of course, not all critique should be listened to, but for what it's worth here are the reasons for my star ratings:

Vision: 3 1/2 stars: I really like your use of colour, it's an interesting way to convey that "sick and tired" feeling (blue skin, sickly yellow/green background). I also really like the juxtaposition of the rendered areas vs the outline only of the hair. Little things like how her top is only defined as negative space go a long way and I would have pushed that even more by making maybe a larger area defined that way. Lost some marks because of the general "sexy/prettiness" of the face. This is a personal preference, if that's what you're going for, cool. I just see so much of model-like, lots of make-up faces, particularly on this site, would like to see something a little different.

Originality: 3 1/2 stars: The "model-like" appearance of the girl not-withstanding, you gained marks because of the creative use of colour and the varied techniques I outlined above.

Technique: 2 1/2 stars: Things I think you did very well - rendering of the eyes, outline drawing of the hair, use of negative space. I have a few suggestions to make this painting even more interesting and dynamic:
*Composition: I feel it's a little unbalanced with high contrast areas in the center-left (face) and not much on the right to bring the eye that way. Adding maybe a couple of heavy lines in or behind the hair, or maybe just at the hair-line on the forehead may help. Or going for a diagonal pull with a dark area in the bottom left corner behind the arm, plus one in the upper right behind the top of head, that would make a kind of dark band running diagonally through the painting, echoing the sweeping gesture of her head, might be nice. These are just some ideas.
*Contrast: I find there's not enough contrast within the face, making parts of the inside of the mouth darker would have helped. At least as dark as the nostrils. You could have pushed some of the dark areas even darker.
*Texture: Making the background a different texture than the woman's skin would have been interesting. It is slightly different, but I would have liked to have seen you push it more with very different strokes and handling of the paint.

Impact: 3 1/2 stars: Your painting is very eye-catching and conveys a lot of emotion. Really nice drawing ability to show the anguish in her face. I reduced the score a little because of the enhancements I outlined above that I think could elevate it even more.

One part I really like is the ear against the lines of the hair. Really cool effect of having something highly rendered right on top of an area in outline. I'd play around with that some more and see where it takes you e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s… " width="15" height="15" alt="" title=" (Smile)"/>

Again, super well done, hope at least some of this is helpful!
