I wanted to do the thing where you have a story thumbnail then dialogue and/or text in the description giving context. I... am not confident enough in my writing for that so.... enjoy the thumbnail?I drew this several months before, but I wanted to have his ref done before I posted it anywhere.
So yea, Nyger was a slave for a time before he was purchased by the temple as a potential vessel. I dont know why they chose him specifically, or if they got several children and slowly weeded them out, but regardless thats where he ended up.

The arrogance, hell yea they be like that.
But the whole reason the vessel thing is a thing is because they're afraid of loosing control, and dont want to risk their peoples destroying themselves or being destroyed by something else. (other gods, spirits, demons, ect) Also they really like having hands since their true forms are more animalistic I think
I think im having a hard time balancing that strong controlling desire with the apathy I can't help but feel gods like this would have. :T

Maybe they just see mortals as resources or entertainment? A farmer wouldn't care about his sheep but he would still protect it from wolves

Hmmmm that is true. It makes sense if nothing. I'll be brainstorming it more but that's a good idea. Would be a hassles form of entertainment though. I know they value them if for no other reason than they didn't actually make their people, it was a gift from their parent god so there's sentimental value in being entrusted to care for them. Though beyond the vague feeling of responsibility and again desire for things to go their way, im not sure how much the overall gods care for their people. (Probably varies from god to god)
Resources though... perhaps.

Maybe they kinda see humans as pets? Or maybe some of them don't want to to look bad in front of the Allfather, I'd imagine there's some sibling rivalry going on between a few of them

Yea little bit on the pets idea, and most definitely on the sibling rivalry. Ahhh the allfalther (for lack of any good name) actually disappeared at some point. No warning, no notice, no trace, he was just gone. So, while its possible they want to have higher standing in his eyes, it would be more to honor his memory, or say they did a good job when he comes back. if he comes back

I hope their family issues doesn't end up being the end of the world:v I doubt the demons would just stand there and watch while gods turn their back on humanity to yell at each other, and if the gods don't get along, then I imagine how the different cults surrounding them do.
Or maybe not, maybe the respect they have for their parent's creation keeps them from getting distracted by petty bickering :v

Its a combination there of, they know how to stay focused for the most part, they are controlling freaks after all, but that doesn't always keep them from squabbling. Gods or not, siblings are siblings.
People have figured out how to contain a demon inside someone, and while there is the odd case of demonic possession, and yes a few cults here and there its not a huge issue.

Heh, nah the gods have a lot of problems, but an all out demon invasion aint one of them. For now at least because the storyline is still a WIP XD
