Description And my last entry for this month's challenge is Mr Happy's supposed watercraft. I wanted to create something vaguely Suesian for this one.

Awesome.

Kinda reminds me of that old mascot for Wal-Mart but more badass. XD

Wow. I am a new fan of yours and this is amazing. What softwares do you use? Any tips for an aspiring artist? Don't take this the wrong way, I do not mean anything negative in any way, but I see this character as the combo of Green Lantern and Plastic Man. I do not mean that as a bad thing, but as a good thing that I find really cool!

Thanks for the comments. Yeah Plastic man and Green Lantern....I can see that. No worries, I dont mind comparisons, its unavoidable not to relate one thing to another when nearly everything has been done at one time or another.

I used to use Photoshop for everything but now I almost use Manga Studio 5 (also known as Clip Studio Paint) for all my comic art. Its literally made for doing comics so why not...plus you can get it for as low as $35 online (Amazon) vs $700 for PS. Plus I just refuse to pay Adobe forever for its software via a subscription plan.

Tips:
Draw every day. Something even if its just a sketch. Do some life drawings as well as comics, its good to draw from real life. Get books, and watch videos. One book I still keep and go to from time to time is Stan Lee's How To Draw Comics The Marvel Way, it was a huge influence and a great tool for learning about comics and creating characters. Youtube is LOADED with great videos on drawing and drawing software. I watch it all the time while Im drawing. Here are a few of my favorite art channels.

OMG YOU WATCH JAZZA TOO OMG YAY!!! I also watch/read things by Christopher Hart, Art Baltazar, Bruce Timm, (When he did DC stuff, not now with all the new art style stuff.) Steven Universe, and random things I find here on DA. Also, thank you for telling me about something cheaper than Photoshop, my Mom won't let me buy it until I actually get a job, almost illegal for another two years for me. I draw almost every day. I once drew nonstop until I had over one hundred and forty superhero and super villain OC's! AND THEN I LOST IT! I can't find it, but I somehow remember every single one, or at least specific groups of them at a time, and forget the rest XD So thank you SOOOOO much. Also, when I first joined my friend said this site was an adult content only site. But I don't see that, so I made an account and now post stuff here. Any more tips? Like, is there a way so someone can make a living on selling comics, or is this a hobby or side-job?

So far Im not making a living, heck I dont even have a comic out yet, but I have been researching and it is possible. It will take discipline and perseverance though. Your going to have to want it, need to do it. For me my drive is I have so many stories I want to tell. Thats what keeps me grinding when I dont  feel like drawing. Be sure to do plenty of research, do you want to work in comics, produce your own comic, work as an illustrator or concept artist. Find out what appeals to you and learn all you can about it from the craft to the business end of things. Also remember that every "over night success" has probably been striving for 10 years without serious recognition.

While I wasnt a fan of DA a long time ago Ive found it to be one of the best places for sharing art, exposure and community.

Ok if you cant get manga studio now there is a free Photoshop-like program called GIMP. It will be a good starting point for you and there is plenty of info online and on youtube about how to use it.

Hopefully. I might not get any better than "really cartoony", then again Art Baltazar didn't either and he's pretty rich. He's got like, three comic store locations.

Hey if cartoony is your thing I say go for it. Your style is what you want it to be. Ive played around with a few styles before this one became my default and even its changed as Ive gone digital over pen and paper.

The first one was the easiest, the plane was originally going to be what a Happy Car looked like but Im glad I went with the hippity hop and the last one was me just getting as silly as I could.

They all blew my mind!  Though I imagine the plane will easily shift into a car in no time if needed.
