Ross Snyder Jr's followup to Og-Im are his spawn. Ross wanted something of an Invasion of the Body Snatchers theme. Og-Im can release spores that infect other lifeforms making them zombie slaves as they are consumed and transformed into more fungal mass to join with Og-Im itself. As that goes on though they retain the abilities they had before infection. While Ross wanted to see some spawn I decided to throw in a transformation sequence for the heck of it. That is just way over the top nasty ! Reminds me also of another fungus monster that was able to mutate its victims, but I forgot the name.

You know I never thought of that! I've never seen the movie myself but I'm familiar with it. I was going more invasion of the body snatchers with a little bit of the Gamera monster Legion (or in this case, its drones).

I've heard of it, and I know the basics of the storyline. My experiences with Japanese horror/monster movies are pretty much Godzilla & Gamera movies.

Same here, I've never seen Showa Gamera and I only know the plot to most non-Godzilla Toho kaiju films.

Actually what's funny is I've only seen the first two Heisei Gamera movies and even then I barely remember the second.

The 90s trilogy was really good, the second one was a partial inspiration for Og-Im (along with the blob & invasion of the body snatchers). And as I Godzilla fan I have to say the 90s Gamera trilogy was vastly superior to what Toho was putting out for Godzilla at the same time.

I still think Hesei Godziila is better than late Showa Godzilla (excluding the Mechagodzilla movies and Godzilla vs. Hedorah).

I agree for the most part, except for Godzilla vs Biollante and Godzilla vs Destorah. Both were at least on par with Godzilla vs Hedorah. The 90s Mechagodzilla not so much.

Maybe, but people really shouldn't judge it that way. Everyone has something that others would consider silly that affects them deeply. Take for instance myself, My oldest memory is of watching Terror of Mechagodzilla as a child with my brother Marc, he died over 20 years ago, so that movie & even my trading card project holds a special meaning for me beyond it being a silly little monster movie.

All I can really say is that it's always frustrating when people write off a genre or an entire medium based on stereotypes and misconceptions. All kaiju films are cheesy rubber monsters with bad dubs. All comics are stuck in the Silver Age. All anime is either Pokémon or Hentai.

Its ok, I was just trying to show that there is nothing wrong with getting emotional over our favorite rubber suited monsters. I agree, I never like it when people write it off completely. I am not a fan of Musicals but I'd never say all of them are horrible, even if I'd never watch one.

I think its a bit of that, also it could be individual things too, like a lot of people in various fandoms think if something doesn't conform to what they think it should be then they either ignore it or say it shouldn't exist regardless of the fact that there are people who like it.

I tend to try and not judge what people like in fandom. Now I'll tell someone what I don't like or do like and why but I'd never tell them that they shouldn't like it or that what they like shouldn't exist. I personally like Zilla Jr, from the Godzilla: the series cartoon, and feel he has earned his place in the Godzilla family. I know more then one Godzilla fan who thinks even Zilla jr. is an abomination & should be forgotten.

Yup! The thing that makes me hate the 98 movie though is the fact that its what is responsible for the series never getting toys. They even had prototypes...and I really wanted a Cyber-Zilla too.

I did hear some good news at least. Godzilla: Rulers of the Earth apparently had a cameo appearance by Zilla recently. Hopefully its the first step in reintroducing all those characters into the Godzilla cannon.
