Description This is a tattoo design based on the Venitian Costume mask for the Beak Doctor or Plague Doctor. These masks were worn by doctors administering medical care during outbreaks of the plague. The beaks would be stuffed with things like laudanum, rose petals, garlic, myrrh, and anything else thought to protect against air born pathogens. It was kind of like an early gas mask.

Thanks. I was in Venice a few months ago and was super inspired by all the theatrical masks there... they have such a history behind them, which is what I think makes them so interesting
