Description Took this picture of a Pacific Gull a month or so ago, and didn't think it was quite up to standard because of my screwed up lens, but I changed my mind. I haven't noticed those salt'n'pepper markings before on one of these big birds  I don't know if it denotes a gender difference or an age difference, and I can't be arsed looking it up.

I've just ordered an allegedly pro quality70-300  telephoto to replace the old lens so maybe I can take some shots that I feel happier about soon.

Sony 70-300mm SSM G lens. Cameras, I have a Sony a77II (a-mount) and a a6000 (e-mount). Also a a57 which maybe most of the existing photos were taken with, and a Lumix LX100.

Cool.

I have a Cannon EOS 700D.
It came with a 18mm-55mm lens but I recently bought a 75mm-300mm lens and it helps a lot with wildlife photography.

Righto - I had to look that up, as I've actually never owned a Canon (except, I think, for a compact film camera), and their similar looking model designations are as confusing to me as I imagine Sony's are to you (in fact even I make typos and mistakes, as I did in the previous note, whuch I've corrected). For instance Sony make the a77II which is a-mount, and also the A7II (and now a7III) which are mirrorless e-mounts, with different versions of the 70-300 G for each system. If they make another camera starting with a7 (there are nine so far by my count: the a7, a77, a7II a77II, a7s, a7r, a7sII, A7rII, and a7rIII), I think I'll give up.

Sounds Complicated.
With the canon EOS D series the lower the number the better the camera, so a 6D would be for professional payed photographers.

Nikon's rather like that, I think. The fewer 0's on the end the better. Come to think of it, does that mean that the ultimate Canon would have a decimal point in front of it?   Sony's system makes some sort of sense, but I wish they weren't married to the number 7. They definitely like odd numbers. They do also use 9's and 5's, but less commonly 6, and even less commonly 8. 4 is apparently avoided by Japanese camera makers for some reason because it has a rude or disgusting significance, so I read.

Thanks for the watch BTW

Apparently the number 4 is bad luck in Japanese culture

I suppose if you were born on 4/4/44 you probably wouldn't want to tell anyone.
