DESPAIR is a short film made almost entirely by me (Bram Knol).
Because I want to get an internship at Weta Workshop I decided to make this short film to show who i am, what i do and get more experience with al the aspects of film making.
despair tells the story of an veteran soldier, he returns from a long and bloody war and finds his home to be under attack by the imperial order, the lands are burned and his castle is under siege. His army is battered and exhausted but still try everything they can to rescue their families.
I made Despair on a shoestring budget and whiteout any experience with almost all the things that needed to be done. I learned everything along the way. The only professional help i got was for the camera work ant the sound design. The actors and on set assistants are all friends and family who never did anything like this before. Everything else, including art direction, costumes, direction and visual effects is done by me.
