Description This would be a sketchbook drawing of Otodus megalodon, the infamous giant "megatooth" shark that terrorized tropical and temperate seas all over the globe between 23 and 3.6 million years ago. A paper published in Historical Biology in August 2019 has argued that these sharks didn't grow quite as large as we tend to imagine, with a maximum length between 46 and 50 feet appearing more likely than the 60-65 feet estimated by previous research. Nonetheless, one would still not want to go kayaking in oceans where they swam about. Good thing they've been extinct for over three million years!
