Description
It's International Dinosaur Day today on May 21st, so I sketched this quick little portrait of the recently christened theropod Suskityrannus hazelae. Living in southwestern North America around 92 million years ago, this carnivore would have been a distant relative if not possible progenitor of the Tyrannosaurus rex and other tyrannosaurids. It probably wasn't too big when fully grown, but both of the specimens thus uncovered appear to have been juveniles between three and nine feet long and weighing up to ninety pounds.
