Made with Morley's gorgeous quote as a background.

"There is no mistaking a real book when one meets it. It is like falling in love."

~ Christopher Morley ~ Author & Journalist (1890 - 1957)

Sherlock alas, does not belong to me, but to Benedict Cumberbatch, The BBC, Gatiss and Moffat, the latter which Season 3 will determine if this is still a good thing

That is so very true! And excellent usage of it - for me at least because reading the SACD books are like this for me

That quote is so true. There certain books that, dare I said, are hard to read at first glance, but if you give them an opportunity you find in you hand something wonderful that is worth every cent you spent on it. For me that book is "La rebelion de las masas" (The Revolt of the Masses) by Jose Ortega y Gasset(my personal favorite non fictional book).

Then there are those books you start reading and inexplicably you get hook up from the very first line to the last, and you dont want to let the book go until you finish it, because is so, sorry for the expression, damn amazing that you just have to know how it ends, but is never about that, but more about the "ride".For me mainly: "La derniere tentation" (The last temptation) by Nikos Kazantzakis, and "The Analyst" by John Katzenbach.

And certainly, yes, you fall in love when you find a real book, if is fictional you come to love its characters, you feel the places they are in as familiar as your own house, and you come to care about the stories they live through. (I know I love books such as "A brave new world" by Aldous Huxley, and that my guilty pleasure is "Black House" by Stephen King and Peter Straub)

And finally, Benedict Cumberbatch is a great actor and his work as Sherlock Holmes is just terrific. I cant wait for the third season. Also, as a silly idea, being myself a fan of Doctor Who I wondered if he could work well as The Doctor, I mean, he is a natural ginger, he can act swell, and well I think he could be The Doctor. And he is really handsome no doubts about it.

----sorry for the overlong comment, I think I might got a bit carried away.

Thank you.

Another favourite quote:
"I suggest the only books that influence us are those for which we are ready, and which have gone a little further down our own particular path than we have yet gone ourselves." ~ E.M. Forster

The two books which inexorably altered my imagination were Tolkien's First Age epic The Silmarillion, (of course The Lord of the Rings played no small part too) and Susanna Clarke's brilliant and darkly beautiful, Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

As for Benedict portraying Doctor number 12? Hmmmm...he keeps denying an offer of any sort or any specific interest in playing that role, though some have speculated you would make a riveting Master. - John Simm just wasn't terrifying enough for me!

Oh and BTW, "carried away" is most definitely allowed here!

Your welcome.

I like that quote.

I yet have to read The Silmarillion, Id read The hobbit and the LOTR trilogy, but not that one. I bet Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell is a really good book.

Well, one can dream. And now that you mention it he could be a cool Master, he has been so out of the picture in this last seasons that I almost forgot about him, shame on me, I know.
