Description
Phoenix is the Greek name given to a mythological bird offered in sacrifice to Ra, god of the Sun in ancient Egypt. This bird was similar to an eagle and possessed a splendid golden-red plumage that made it look like it was wrapped in flames. In some versions, The Phoenix was shown in flames rather than in feathers.The Phoenix lived in Arabia. According to the legends only one Phoenix lived at one time and lived for 500 years. At the end of its life-cycle, the Phoenix built a nest as it was dying and set the nest on fire and was consumed by the flames. After its death, a new Phoenix would then arise from the ashes and the new Phoenix was reborn. This cycle was repeated over and over. The Phoenix was the symbolic representation of the death and rebirth of the sun.

I knew this looked familiar, but I couldn't figure out where I'd seen it until I was scanning through Elftown's merchandise logos... the border is much nicer on this version.

Wow, it's beeeeeautiful!!! I love phoenixes and griffons and this is just splendid! Ya know, it sorta looks like a turkey from a certain perspective...sorry, post-thanksgiving weekend...*BURP*

I figured I should add my little comments to this peice to joing the multitudes of others 
I love the color choice and to stick within the same orange type shade works very well. The bunches of feathers and soft coloring style give this a very pleasant and comforting feel to it. Nice.

oh thanks soo much. I did have the idea of throwing flames all around it and then decided against it. I didnt want anything to look artificial with it after the time I spent on it!

I spend alot of hours every day taking tutorials, reading manuals, and sketching stuff until I get something I like. I have had no art education and Im hoping to go to school soon. Lots of feedback and help from my friends on Deviant and ELftown. Just keep practicing and trying!

Simply staggering the whole picture seems to be hazy and yet os soft to represent how the greeks describe a " Gentle carress of flame"
The detail in this pic is astounding .. and the energy of the pic seems to go of the paper .. I'm gunna say this is likely your best work, for the detail alone.

THanks so very much. I worked on it a couple of months a lil at a time. The sketch took me forever to get one I liked! It was tedious but worth it. I'm pretty happy with the outcome of it. My favorite part are the floating embers.

The piece flows good together. Just a tad to BLENED and SMOOTH for my taste tho. Other than that excellent job the sparkles and the texture of the wings.

Yeah I did my best to blend it well my first time with painter. I wanted to make a print so I had to make sure it would pixelate something awful~ Im so new to digital art its unreal!
