Description There it is, I wanted, no, needed to make one for ages and. Made of a beige wool, nice and warm, with embroidered panel. ( I might fill other panels as well over time) and matching beads. The only thing missing are the tortoise clasps. I haven't figured out how to make those or haven't got the dough to buy them hihi!

The embroidery was based on Viking embroidery, but adjusted to my own liking, and I like horses and knotwork! The dress underneath is not period, but pretty close.

The apron dress is FOR SALE..

I'm part of the Isle of Man viking society, and I was just wondering if you could give me some more information on this piece.

What are the dimensions/lengths? (Inc. bust, underbust, hips, total length)
How much would you want for this piece?
(In GB Pounds Sterling (£ if possible)

I'm looking to buy this as an addition to my current .

P.S: It's a wonderful, wonderful piece. Great job!!

Stunning apron. The embroidery is very beautiful (I love these little horses!) and the fabric looks gorgeous.
You state that the apron is for sale...but the deviation is 3 year-old now. Have you sold it?

just out of curiousity....how much would you ask for a dress like this?

Not much, mostly just the cost of the material.. I offered it to someone for 50 euro, but she declined..

was this from pattern or by hand?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BraveAnimal In reply to oO-Digital-Glow-Oo [2006-07-31 06:57:36 +0000 UTC]

from a pretty basic historical pattern, but drawn out by hand dicrectly on the fabric. I jotted down the measurements and how it shoudl be placed on the fabric on a little note and then measured and chalked some references on the fabric. It is nice and simple really!

BraveAnimal In reply to Seiseno [2006-07-23 10:16:25 +0000 UTC]

Geduld heb je wel nodig ja.. en garen en een naald en wat stof! Maar dit patroon is supermakkelijk, google gewoon even op Viking Apron dress en gij zult vinden! Als je op kimono googled vind je vast ook wel een kimono patroon

That turned out great!! I expect a lot of people will be very envious at events. You might consider getting some small amber beads to add at strategic points as well. South Pacific Bead company has great prices for that sort of thing.

Cool ! So my explanations were not too confusing ? The embroidery is great ! And since you are working with leather.... I made my first set of brooches (before I could get the metal ones) with round pieces of leather (the vegetable tanned), which I worked with water and a hammer to get a slight bowl shape. Then I stained it and decorated with studs and stitching and made two holes on each side. I then used stiff metal wire, which I folded in a spiral on one end and sharpened to a point on the other end. It makes something similar than a leather barette (with a pin instead of a stick). Of course, it is not historical, but it serves the purpose of holding the dress. I hope you understand what I mean here.

Very nice! I love how wool looks, but am mildly allergic to the stuff, so I have to either where it as an outer layer where wont rub me, or find an alternative fabrice that has the look of wool.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BraveAnimal In reply to FrockTarts [2006-07-11 06:38:16 +0000 UTC]

luciky I am not so woolitch prone, but this is an outergarment!

You could line wool fabric, wouldn't that help?

FrockTarts In reply to BraveAnimal [2006-07-12 01:37:34 +0000 UTC]

I have, and I do... But that does mean no wool stocks for me, and absently no wool sweaters over short-sleeved shirts!
