I think I said somewhere that there is some implied VentusXAqua in What Lies in Darkness... I don't think this scene will really come into play specifically, but we'll see. Think of it as a part we didn't immediately see.
This is roughly around the time Sora joined Organization XIII, about ten or eleven years after Birth By Sleep. Thus, Ven has grown quite a bit.
Aqua's design will come into play a bit later on as well. I do have a reason for it. You may even be able to guess based on what's already been revealed through the story.
