Description
This is my new tattoo which took 5 hours. My father's first tattoo was a phoenix and I always wanted to get his exact tattoo so that I could always carry him around with me. When the artist died, however, that became impossible, so I started looking around for phoenix pictures. I found one similar to the final product but of course it was normal phoenix colors with a sun, the head more like an eagle's, and lots more fire.

The reason I went with the color scheme and look that I did was because of the Beatles' song "Blackbird," which has similar motifs to the phoenix. They're both about rising from the ashes, picking up the pieces and making something new. I feel like that song is much more relateable to my life so I mixed the phoenix for my dad with a little bit of crow, and this is what I got. The artist, A.J. from Broadway Tattoo Lounge in South Amboy, NJ did an AMAZING job.
