Description

If you are to ask Lance what the hardest part of being a paladin of Voltron is. He’d probably say that homesickness was on of them.

He couldn’t really visit his home or see his family without possibly endangering the galaxies. When that set in, his homesickness became much worse. He hid it during training but at night he’d wrap up in his blanket, trying to imagine being in his warm home on earth, surrounded by family and loved ones. It never really worked. It just got worse.

One day, Coran gifted him a device. It was once used for something with planets, Lance didn’t really pay attention to the history lesson, but it was able to make a hologram of earth for him. Since he had been homesick for, even he didn’t really know now, Coran decided to gift it to him.

It did help, a lot. Lance thought that seeing the planet he called home would worsen his symptoms, but he actually felt better. Sometimes he would think he saw people even, but that was most likely just a trick of light.

So now, every time he misses his home, his family, he sits on his bed in the dark and just stares at the hologram. The homesickness never went away, but looking at his home always gave him hope that he’d make it through the day.

Honestly, I've been wanting to make some fan art of Lance for a while now. He's my favorite character in the show and I wanted to draw him. Voltron Legendary Defenders inspires me with art so much (next to a million animated shows and comics) and so I wanted to draw him. Unfortunately, I wanted to get it so on par with the show, that I failed my first attempt, ditching it after realizing I couldn't.
This time, I said screw it and started drawing. I took heavy inspiration, but I didn't care if it looked like the show style or not. As long as it looked like Lance, I was happy. I'm happy with how it turned out, especially the background. It sucked to draw the bed and the walls, and I had to redraw it. But I learned my mistakes and finished it. I'm proud of myself.
While drawing this, I thought about writing a short thing for it. So that's the story in the description. Just something fun for me.

Welp, see you all later. Byeee. Oh, and happy pride month.
