Description Wow it's been a while! for the past few months I've been busy applying to college, thus the lack of any art being posted here. Nevertheless college apps are done and I'm ready to get back into it, so be sure to expect more art like this coming out.

The piece is meant to portray the misty glow that occurs in the morning after a night full of rain.
The subject is a Postosuchus in a coniferous forest of Araucarioxylon trees with a soft bed of liverworts and mosses covering the ground. hiding on one of the fallen trunks is a small archosauromorph known as Malerisaurus. As my first attempt to reconstruct a Triassic landscape it was very interesting to imagine a world dominated mainly by conifers with large crocodilian like predators, it seems both alien and familiar.
The overall composition and style is mainly inspired by Doughlas Henderson although I was also inspired by Raph Lomotan and Lucas Atwell.
Hope you guys like it!

Mann, this looks awesome

your art style is amazing boi

but a accurate tip

dont do crocodilian with """"lips""""

Thanks!! Although lips on raisuchians were fairly likely. You have to keep in mind that these animals were very specialized to their particular niche and came much before modern day crocodilians.

Yea, i know

but its a thing

reptiles dont need lips (even lizards dont have, thats not even lips after all)

but even being before modern crocodilians, lips dont change nothing on they, kinda the same energy

I'm not going to get into a full on debate as to when adding lips is considered correct in paleoart as that is a much broader and very controversial topic. All I will say is that comparing Postosuchus and raisuchians in general to their modern day relatives is a dangerous trap to fall into. Most lizards adapted to a terrestrial environment absolutely have lips and it is not too far of a stretch to extrapolate that raisuchians would maintain this trait.

So you mean that comparing birds to draw dinosaurs would be incorrect because birds are specialized in flight?

Do you have any idea what you're saying?

Like i said before

they dont have lips, reptiles dont have lips

that are literally they mouth

and putt somenthing on a animal that we have no proof

is not paleoart

paleoart is literally

make prehistoric organisms most scientifically accurate to the time

no speculation
