The Highfather's plans, ways and motives are unknown to mortals, and his mysterious and selective intervention into their world often leaves his followers with more questions than answers about who or what he truly is. However, his followers take heart in knowing that wherever his divine intervention occurs, it always takes the form of some sort of benevolent benefactor, righteous judge, or purger of darkness.
The legendary tales of the angelborn (or half-angel) are one such mysterious intervention. An event so rare, that centuries can pass without the world ever seeing one. These angelic beings are born into the world to unknowing mortal parents. Whether they be born to humans, elves, dwarves, yashlings, or any other, they appear as supernaturally beautiful. They grow up among their families as any child does, but with an uncanniness, charisma, and predisposition to honestly and right-living that makes them stand out for their peers. Their days have them doing honest work, performing noble deeds, and seeking to make their community a better place. In their nights, they whisper mysterious things to beings only they can see.
They live among their mortal families until their Calling comes. Their appearance takes on an angelic visage, and they are driven out into the world by some inscrutable will that only they understand. Whatever their divine mission is, they let no obstacle dissuade them in its execution.
No angelborn has ever died a natural death; their mission often costs them their lives. Those who do not die completing their divine task instead disappear from the world, never to be seen again.
