Finished drawing of Toothless!!Charcoal and white charcoal pencil on tan paper, blended with brushes
From the scene in the first movie where Hiccup wakes after the fall, and losing his leg, from their fight to defeat the big bad dragon and Toothless is in his room waiting for him to wake up. Toothless is all jumping about and excited like a big puppy but becomes more concerned when Hiccup discovers that he lost his leg.
I think it went well for my first attempt! I might draw him more....

I didn't think I could either!!!! I have the technical part down pretty well, its just making drawings look blended and detailed enough to be convincingly real that was my issue. But watching artists on here and youtube do redraw and looking to see what tools they used (if they had the good graces to include their trade secrets) has really challenged me to change my approach and learn new skills.

I want to get better at my drawing but life just seems to get in the way. Believe it or not, I'm self taught; never had a lesson.

Same. but yeah I'm like that as well, work and daily life gets in the way a bit. it does not help that I can only create when I feel inspired or on a deadline. Inspiration is not a convenient thing either...it comes along once in a while in the form of a wisp, a wisp that is very hard to grasp hold of.

I totally feel the same way. The unexpected occurrences of life can certainly be trialling and time-consuming. Sometimes I cannot find the time to play video games.
My work gets in the way too but it's mostly school work; I'm still in school.

I do. He's a large border collie named Henry and he's way too smart for his own good lol
He likes to hang his head upside down with his tongue hanging out and look at me, just like this

This is the magic of blending charcoal with a brush!!!
I was going babies while experimenting with it because I didn't know how it wold turn out! But like magic the blending looked so close to his skin!!!
Tan paper and white charcoal pencil makes it look like it has more depth as well. (Can't take credit for that magic mix)
