Description Toad study.

Did you know that a frog and a toad is the same thing? Just people generally call the bigger, uglier ones toads.

It is sad for the toads maybe?

The texture and the blurring of the distant parts are well done.

By the way, there is a biological difference between frogs (genus: "rana") and toats (genus: "bufo"). Frogs catch their prey with their tongue, they can jump and they need water as their habitat. Toats catch their prey with the mouth, they walk and can live in dry habitats. I'm an awfull know-it-all.

Thank you

Ah, I dunno man. Google "The difference between frogs and toads". I'll let what you find there speak for itself.Β

Oh wow, this is really incredible! I like frogs and toads - it's a pity my mum's scared of them.

Thanks so much

That is a shame. 'Cept for the poisonous ones they are pretty harmless!

has featured you as Artist of the Day! Β

Congratulations!

I love toads and frogs equally, and newts, tadpoles and frogspawn

One of the most interesting moments of watching a frog in the pond, was it watching a bug on a rock, and then its tongue shot out and caught the bug.

Poor bug, alas...but something very rare to actually see, for oneself.

Woot! Thanks!

That sounds like it would be awesome indeed to see. Do you keep amphibians as pets?

You're welcome

I have a wildlife pond in the garden

Last year we had that much frogspawn (around 2000 eggs), that we gave some to the neighbour's for their ponds.

It's very nice going into the garden and watching the tadpoles develop from eggs and learn to swim, and watching tiny froglets from the previous year, hopping around the garden, and the older, larger frogs like to sunbathe on stones around the pond. Or they hide in bushes and shrubs

I remember a stormy night a few years back: I had to go outside and got soaked, because a frog had decided to climb a 6ft fence. They are very agile, and great climbers because of their toes and fingers. But I couldn't let him reach the top of the fence, because it's a long way down for a frog, with concrete paving slabs.

So I rescued the little guy and took him back to the pond

We also have fieldmice and lots of different types of birds that visit the garden.

Sounds like an awesome place to live! That's the kind of environment I want to raise my family in.
I grew up in the middle of a huge city (Hong Kong) with almost no nature whatsoever.Β

It is - I love the garden

Ohh, today is the day that the frogs have laid their first batch of frogspawn

The frogs are mating at the moment, though it can be abit unnerving to see them mate, and one of them is watching you with a big grin on its face

I don't think I could have a comfortable life without being close to nature - just the way I am, I guess

I adore toads. I love catching them at night the releasing them after.

Sounds fun
Unfortunately I grew up in a big city and so never really get a chance to do stuff like that
