Ash is an only child who lived with his mother, Delia, until he left for his journey at the age of ten. His main goal in life is to be a "Pokémon Master." One particular characteristic about Ash, aside from his determination and his passion for raising and training Pokémon, is that he is incredibly selfless. He will often go to extraordinary lengths to earn a Pokémon's trust and respect, and to better understand a Pokémon that he sees as troubled. He is also very fair-minded and trusting, a true testament to his good-natured character.

Ash is shown to have a strong sense of justice, especially when it comes to Pokémon. If a Pokémon is in trouble, he will make every effort to help them, even if he has no prior connection to them. If they are the cause of trouble, he will stop them, and then try to understand them, with almost all such occasions being a case of the Pokémon, or their Trainers or friends, having a problem which can't be resolved normally. In such cases, he will selflessly volunteer to help them. Should the problem be caused by humans, such as Team Rocket, Ash resolves to do anything in his power to stop them.

Despite this, Ash has retained a remarkably optimistic and naive outlook, a trait his closest friends seem to share. He is quick to praise and has an unshakable trust in both his Pokémon and his friends. Also, Ash is determined to see the best in everybody unless he has a very good reason not to. Furthermore, even though almost all of his friends have large dreams, Ash fully supports them and has never doubted their ability to accomplish them, possibly due to his own highly ambitious goal. She does reprimand Ash sometimes, but only because she cares for him deeply, as he is her only child. She is usually found at home with Mimey, a Mr. Mime that she "adopted" shortly after visiting a circus.

Mimey is Ash's "adopted brother," who befreinded Delia after running away from a circus. He will only listen to Delia, and if anyone else asks him to do something, he will normally ignore them unless told otherwise by Delia. He greatly enjoys doing the household chores around the Ketchum home and does not like sharing his job with others. At first, Ash was jealous of the affection his mother would give to Mimey, but they soon became good friends. Ash in particular is glad that Delia has Mimey as a housemate, as while he is on his journey, his mother will have company at home and will never be lonely.

Personality: Serena is a very kind and polite girl. She is always concerned about what her friends are doing. She also has a passion for fashion and clothes. She tries to find the prettiest outfits, and finds that whatever her mother picks out tends to be less fashionable. Knowing this, she hates getting dirty and being soaked in mud. She loves to bake for her friends, who always delight in getting to eat what she makes for them. Serena has developed strong feelings for Ash, constantly blushing when interacting with him. She has also begun to take on his determination, greatly inspired by his motto: "Never give up till the end", and as such begins to takes hits for her Pokémon like he does. She also tends to get flustered whenever someone brings up her crush on him and blushes quite heavily. Serena possesses a unique charm when it comes to Rhyhorn possibly due to her upbringing, as nearly all of those that she encounters gravitate towards her without the girl in question doing anything.

Brianna Bellerose:

Relation to Ash: Friend/Rival
Personality: Cheerful, optimistic, and positive, Brianna can see the good in almost anything and anybody. She is likewise a very kind, compassionate and caring soul, who always put others before herself, supported her friends, and held an unconditional love for all people and Pokémon, even showing compassion to her enemies at times.

Clemont Liscio :
Occupation: Gym Leader/Inventor
Relation to Ash: Friend
Personality: Clemont is an intelligent inventor who takes pride in his gadgets and science in general, and although his devices usually do what he wants them to do, they only function for a few minutes or even a few seconds before exploding. Whenever he introduces one of his inventions, his glasses shine and he usually says, "The future is now, thanks to science!", demonstrating his anticipation of situations that require the help of his machines. He claims to have an invention for just about every situation the group find themselves in, regardless of the nature of said situation, even normally inconceivable ones.

Bonnie Liscio :
Occupation: U/A
Relation to Ash: Friend
Personality: Bonnie is a young and cheerful girl who is always excited to meet new Pokémon. At times, she gets too invasive with Pokémon, causing them to attack her. She is very proud of her brother's accomplishments as an inventor, but sometimes criticizes him if his inventions do not work. For reasons currently unknown, she tries to find a wife for Clemont, first seen when she asks Brianna if she could marry him. This causes him to get embarrassed and remove her with his Aipom arm.

Edit: I updated Ash with a more mature appearance. Do not get me wrong, the Ash of Pokémon XY is my favorite version, but I wanted to alter his appearance to make him look more like a teenager. His new form is a fusion of sorts between Kalos Ash and Calem.
